Reflection on shoot

For this shoot I just photographed part of the River Lea near Walthamstow Marshes and Hackney Marshes which was originally where I started at the River Lea for the Memory Palace project. On Walthamstow Marshes I photographed the surrounding area which included pylones and overhead wires from the train tracks. Then on Hackney Marshes I focused on photographing the reflection and movement of the water. I shot these images in balck and white because I wanted to only capture the water in an abstract way so that the reflections looked like shapes or perhaps an abstract ink drawing. I wasnt that close to the water and there was only so far that my camera could zoom in so I am going to edit some of the photos so that they are smaller, almost like thumbnail images of parts of the water. Some of the reflections from branches of trees that overhang the water, created a really lovely texture. Although it's a flat image, (especially shooting digitally, the images look very flat), the ripples on the water almost look like shadows and zooming in, there is so much depth and so many different shapes created by the light. I also took over 100 photos on a continuous shutter to create either a short animation or a flip book (I will probably try both) so that you can see the way the water changes and ripples. As I go further up the river to take photos, for some shoots I will just photograph the water in this abstract way and use that as a way to compare how the water is different along different parts of the river’s course.
